We provide all levels of care. From needing support and guidance to manage their own care, to full nursing care and end of life care, we can provide whatever you or your loved one requires at each stage of  their life. We also provide person centered, holistic dementia care for those living with newly diagnosed or mild dementia, through to the more severe stages.

Whatever stage of life you or your loved one is at, we can provide the quality care they need to continue to live happy, fulfilled lives.

If you are unsure as to what type of care you need, talk to us! We can help you to assess what level is right for you or your loved one and point you in the right direction for any funding that you may be entitled to. The Home Manager, Deputy and Clinical lead are all very approachable and experienced in this area so just ring or drop in for a chat.

We have an in house hairdresser, regularly visiting chiropodist and GP, and various activities here at Apley Grange. Activities vary throughout the year but exercise sessions, “drinks and nibbles”, Knitting and nattering, poetry club and “Joan’s activity afternoons” take place all year round. Seasonal activities include rearing spring chicks, a visiting ice cream van, afternoon teas, special themed days and animal visits have all been thoroughly enjoyed so far this year.

We also have daily mass in our beautiful chapel, regular prayer meetings and a pastoral team available daily to support people with their spiritual and emotional needs.

We have a policy of open visiting. You are welcome anytime but obviously some times are busier in the home than others. However, we will do our best to make you welcome whenever you wish to come.

Deciding when to move into a care home is a very personal choice. Some people choose to  come in when they are still quite independent whereas for others it is not until they are struggling to manage or require nursing care, or may even be approaching end of life that they choose to come into fulltime care. We can provide support and advice but ultimately it is up to the person and their families to make the decision.

Once the decision has been made and we have a room available, you can move in as soon as you wish. We encourage people to bring as much from their own homes as they want (space permitting). This helps to make their room more homely.  Photos, pictures, ornaments, even small pieces of furniture are all suitable to be brought. We will help with this transition process as much as we can.

As long as we continue to fulfill your care needs, you can remain resident for as long as you wish. We are experienced in caring for people at all levels of dependency, so once you are resident, there is no need to worry about having to ever move again.

We care for people living with dementia of all severities, from newly diagnosed and very mild to extremely severe and end of life. We have a small bespoke unit designed specifically for caring for those whose dementia is severe and who may be displaying difficult or challenging behavior. This helps us to ensure they continue to receive the highest standard of person centered care.

Prior to admission, if at all possible, the Deputy Manager or Clinical Lead will arrange to visit you, be that at your home with family in attendance or in the hospital. We can also arrange for you to come to Apley Grange for a visit, for either a couple of hours or for a full day. This allows us to get to know you and assess your care needs whilst also giving you chance to get to know us.

We will always try to get as much information about you as we can prior to your admission so that your transition to Apley Grange can be as seamless and stress free as possible.

Our respite care provision allows you to experience the care at Apley Grange on a temporary basis. The care we take of you would be exactly the same as if you were permanent. People often choose to  come for respite care to give their carers a break or to go on holiday. Many of our respite residents eventually choose to become permanent when the need for more long term care arises. If you are already  familiar with us the move is much easier and a lot less stressful for all involved. We are generally able to provide both short and long term respite care, whichever is most suitable for you and your family.

There are several options available from privately funded to supported/assisted funding depending on the needs of the person requiring care. Your GP or local social services should be able to help you access any funding you are entitled to.

At Apley Grange every resident is seen as an individual person whose needs and wishes are paramount. She will receive excellent nursing and personal care, be part of a welcoming community where she will be supported and encouraged to live life as fully and freely as she is able.
